MY DIRTY LITTLE SECRET

Unfortunately there is an ugly side to renovating. A dirty, messy, close your eyes and hide under the covers sort of ugly that goes along with renovating! Add nesting tendencies to the mix and we're in all sorts of trouble!

Come and have a look at my dirty little secret...

Crap all over the floors
Dust covering every surface!
3 rooms and a  linen cupboard boxed up and piled into one of the living areas
Said living area doubling as a workshop and laundry drying room
Our portico entrance covered in junk
That junk extends into the carport and driveway waiting for the last room to be gutted until a skip is hired to cart it all away!
More dust, all over the floors! My once shoes off house has now been converted into a shoes on house - that is until the demolitions has been completed!
Holes in floors where old walls once stood
The study transformed into a garage
No plaster on the ceiling
or walls for days come weeks
Hopefully the pretty at the end will make up for the ugly endured now!

  1. OMG! This brings me back to last Mar'12 when we first got the keys to our apartment. Reno looks not as messy and big as yours but its the dust and the sand that makes me shivers...

  3. Oh wow! I don't think I could cope with that. I always admire people who can live in a house they are doing a major reno on.

    1. It's terrible (although it's cleaned up now as we hosted my husbands 30th here on the weekend and I couldn't handle having people over while is was filthy) and fun too. But add pregnancy compulsions to the mix and it can be quite hectic!

  5. Thanks for linking up this week! I couldn't imagine undertaking a whole house makeover myself but I confess am addicted to renovating shows. Good luck with it, I hope you are well on the way before the new bubba makes it's appearance!

    1. Thanks for having me :D It is a BIG task! Oh I hear you we are addicted too, so many great ideas. I hope we finish half the house before bubba comes (and then we will take 6 months off to start saving again and start the other half!)

  6. I envy you! We desperately need to start renovating our house back in NSW so we can sell it but it's going to be a long messy job or an expensive one and we just don't have the time or the money to head back to NSW and get stuck in.

    1. I love renovating (until we are stuck in the middle of it) It is a long messy and expensive job. A lot of the cost can be cut down by doing it yourself, but that takes time and lots of it! We found that houses that needed renovation sold better than houses that were already renovated (in our area anyway) and they often sold for a good price as well, often for more than you could sell it for once you spent the money fixing it up. We wanted a renovator so we could put our stamp on the house and make it into something we would love, as we will be here for a few years yet! Good luck with your renovation if you get there!

  7. Our house needs so much renovating that it just needs bulldozing to start from scratch.

I'm sure it will be worth it all for you in the end.

    1. Oh hahahaha! We looked at houses that seem to sound like the house you own! It can be done though, considering we are only using the framework in this house *and even some of that has been changed), it just required more effort and more finances.

I'm sure it will too, just looking forward to that day!
