CRAZY

I am exhausted.

Renovating exhausted.

The house is a mess.

A bomb.

Please don't pop in for an unexpected visit.

I don't have any clean clothes.

They are all dirty.

Or don't fit.

So I may be in my holey trackies.

Or like today my jimmies.

It's too cold and wet to wash.

My inside line is full.

The clothes have been hanging for half a week, refusing to dry.

REFUSING.

ALL I ASK FOR IS MY COMFY UNDIES TO DRY.

Is that too much to ask?

The back yard looks like someone has been digging for lost treasure.

As soon as we make some progress, something else has to go wrong.

Like the bloody drainage.

I curse owning my own home.

I curse owning my own home for the past 6 years.

Damn It!

I am over renovating.

I think I said that already...

Maybe it's the pregnancy hormones talking.

Or maybe it's because I am inhabiting less than half the house.

A space smaller than our first house.

Which was T.I.N.Y

tiny

My child is sleeping on a mattress on the floor in a living area also used for storage.

Because 3 out of the 4 bedrooms are being demolished, plastered, or painted.

Oh Lord we are hosting a huge party in less than 9 weeks.

Get me a paper bag while I hyperventilate.

Breath. Breath. Breath. Breath.

I have bitten off more than I can chew.

I am getting closer and closer to the end of this pregnancy.

And I am feeling heavy.

Heavy as in I struggle to walk up stairs because someone is hitching a ride reverse piggy back style.

I am scared that my nesting instincts are about to kick in.

Or maybe they have?

That's the part where I go crazy.

Like crazy to live with because I can't handle the mess.

The dust.

The crap everywhere.

Oh Lord, crazy just like this post!

  1. You poor love :( don't know how you do it! I can't stand an untidy lumpy couch let alone a house that is being torn apart! I know it seems like a lot and it is, but it will be done soon. Completed in the 9 weeks, I just know it. IZzys room will be done soon then he can go back in there and the office will be done and you can put all the stuff in there and close the door and have a bit more comfort! Xx

    1. I can't wait til the day is here that there is no more work to be done on the house (but I know that will never come, owning your own home is so much work all the time!)

  2. I just cannot imagine having that much construction going on. You are doing really well to survive this!

    1. It's a lot to live with, especially being a stay at home mum, I am surrounded by it all day every day! Looking forward to getting a room or two complete so I can start moving things back to where they belong!

  3. You're doing so well to hold it all together this long. I'd have flipped out already! Or just cancelled the party.... or made it a "come in our overalls and bring your own tools" party ;-)

    1. Haha I have threatened my friends that I would invite them around for a BBQ and then get them to work for their feed LOL! I am trying to hold it together because I really want this finished and my hubby will procrastinate once I start to whinge and nag, so suck it up I must in the name of progress!

    1. Thank-you but I won't hold my breath, work is very busy this week requiring my hubby to work over the weekend. I will need to close my eyes and pretend the weeks aren't slipping away!

  5. Gah! I know this pain! We renovated our home when I was preggo too... and between 20 - 36 weeks, I was living in a caravan on our front nature strip. All class, I tells ya! And needing your comfy undies to dry? Oh, how that resonates.
Eeep. Good luck! I'll be thinking of you! X

    1. haha! Why do we take on such tasks while preg? I think a caravan sounds great, at least you have dust free space :D Thank-you and thanks for stopping in!

  6. Oh I so feel you - we renovated a House for a very long time and I was over the dust, the mess and the whole thing :)
Also did the Pregnancy thing through renovating, not fun...but keep going cause when its finished it looks good. Mind you we sold after we finished!!
And maybe cancel that party....its not good to have that much pressure especially with winter time {trying to get washing dried is not fun}, and almost towards the end of pregnancy...get someone else to host the party!!!

    1. When you do it yourself unfortunately it takes forever! There is only so much you can do at a time! Haha I think we may be in the same boat of selling when finished, but isn't that always the case??? Oh I will contemplate cancelling the BaByQ but I am looking forward to it sooooo much! Thanks heaps for stopping by and reading my rant (and understanding the feeling).

  7. Haha, "All I want is my comfy undies to dry" Maybe include a dryer in the renovation budget??

We were still renovating when pregnant with #1.

Thankfully now pregnant with #2 and all the renos are done. Still need to create a room for my first son though.

Good luck with it all Nathalie
