ECHUCA

We headed up to echuca for the Queens birthday long weekend. Such a gorgeous spot, and my favourite so far on the Murray river, hosting such a quaint little town. We will definitely be back for sure, post bubba so I can enjoy all the lovely soft cheeses and wines on offer. There is so much to do here and we didn't even scratch the surface, and Echuca is the closest point of the Murray river to Melbourne!

The campsite was sensational, and free, but very muddy after heavy rain that morning. I would recommend a 4x4 if you are coming after heavy rain or if it is expected, although there were plenty of 2 wheel drives there, it can be done it's just a lot more difficult. The campsites are secluded and all have wonderful water views although some have better water access than others and only 5 kilometers from town. I would recommend you bring a portaloo as there is only one toilet and it can be kilometers away from where you are camping. We had not luck fishing, not even the notorious carp.

Here are some highlights from our time away with friends

Gorgeous sunset at camp
We hired a boat, a very economical way to explore the murray
Israel loved the boat and did so well for the 4 hours we were on it!
Our camp
It was so cold a campfire was mandatory!
